7月10日—24日，我校大学生组建了2支国家级团队、4支校级团队和43支院系小分队共700余人奔赴井冈山、辽宁、郏县、鲁山、石龙区等地深入开展“三下乡”社会实践活动。校大学生通讯社按照党委宣传部的安排部署，选派了一批优秀学生记者，在校团委和各院系的密切配合下，深入社会实践活动基地，积极主动地开展新闻宣传报道工作，《河南日报》、《网易》、《中国新闻网》、《中国科学网》、《大公网》、《凤凰》、《搜狐》、《大河网》、《大学生新闻网》、《河南教育新闻网》、《河南省志愿者》、《平顶山市文明网》、平顶山电视台、平顶山教育电视台等三十余家媒体累计报道110余篇（次）。
